Andrzej Sapkowski is a Polish fantasy writer. He is a creative consultant for Netflix's The Witcher.

Biography Edit

Andrzej was born in Łódź, Poland where he attended the University of Łódź and studied economics. He also worked as a senior sales representative for a foreign trade company. He is best known for The Witcher saga. His books have been translated into nineteen languages thus far.

Beginning his literary career as a translator of science fiction, he wrote his first short story for The Witcher on a whim, in order to enter a contest by Polish science fiction and fantasy magazine Fantastyka in which he placed third. In 1986, his short story became successful with both readers and critics after being published by Fantastyka. Sapkowski went on to write a series of short stories and novels about the Witcher world. The saga has been described as having a cult following in Poland.
